A small home can make room for a lot: family nearby, a quieter place to work, or a weekend spent somewhere beautiful.
MAVE creates thoughtfully designed small homes for backyards, everyday living, and outdoor hospitality.
We approach each home as a complete product, developing space, materials, and construction together. Every square foot serves a purpose; beauty and practicality inform every decision.
Thoughtful proportions, natural light, and carefully resolved details make a small home feel generous. We bring the care of bespoke residential architecture to homes designed for everyday life.
We bring design, permit documentation, prefabrication, and material sourcing into one coordinated system. By resolving more before construction begins, we help reduce build time and cost, bringing well-designed homes within reach of more people.
MAVE was founded by Jiafeng Li and Ruoyu Wei, both graduates of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture. Before MAVE, they worked at internationally respected practices including Steven Holl Architects, Allied Works, Arata Isozaki, and Dorte Mandrup, on private residences, hospitality projects, cultural buildings, and projects carried from concept through construction.
That experience shapes how they design: thoughtful proportions, considered materials, and spaces that make everyday life feel more generous. At MAVE, they bring this architectural care to a refined collection of small homes, designed for practical use and repeatable construction.
Work by the founding team has received recognition from the Architizer A+Awards and Architecture MasterPrize, and members of the team have served on juries for international architecture competitions organized by Buildner and TerraViva.
